Museo Atlántico is Europe's first underwater sculpture museum, created by internationally renowned artist Jason deCaires Taylor. Located off the coast of Playa Blanca at depths of 12-15 meters, this unique museum combines art, marine conservation, and diving adventure.

The museum features over 300 life-sized sculptures installed on the ocean floor, creating an surreal underwater landscape. The artworks include "The Raft of Lampedusa" (a powerful commentary on migration), a botanical garden, and various human figures that interact with the marine environment in thought-provoking ways.

Beyond artistic merit, the sculptures serve as artificial reefs, promoting marine life and biodiversity. Over time, the installations become colonized by algae, coral, and other marine organisms, constantly evolving as nature reclaims the art. This creates a unique fusion of human creativity and natural processes.

The museum can only be visited through organized diving or snorkeling tours with certified operators. Several dive centers in Playa Blanca offer guided tours for both certified divers and beginners. Snorkeling tours allow non-divers to view some shallower installations from the surface.

Visibility is generally excellent in the crystal-clear Atlantic waters. The experience is unforgettable, combining the thrill of diving with thought-provoking contemporary art. Tours typically last 2-3 hours including briefing and transport.
